Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) posts fourth quarter EPS from continuing operations of $1.02, vs. $0.95 a year ago, on 1.7% total U.S. same-store sales rise without fuel, 2.1% rise with fuel, 8.3% total co. sales rise. It sees $0.70-$0.74 first quarter EPS from continuing operations, $3.30-$3.43 for fiscal year 2009.

MBIA (MBI) announces that Joseph (Jay) W. Brown will return to the company, resuming his positions as chairman and chief executive officer, and becomes president of MBI, effective immediately. Brown replaces Gary C. Dunton, who has resigned from MBI.
