Who'll Let The Dogs Out?

The Los Angeles Times has a sad story today about pets that get left behind after a home is foreclosed on. Most apartment buildings won’t allow dogs and so even caring pet owners find themselves in a bind when losing their homes. A Realtor reports seeing pets chained in the yard or locked inside. Shelters say they’re getting more animals sent to them by struggling homeowners. Big shocker: nearly 60% of the dogs and cats sent to the Los Angeles County pound get put to sleep.

One of the unintended victims of the mortgage meltdown.
