Kathy Moore has worked at BusinessWeek for more than 20 years and has been the photo editor for SmallBiz from its inception. Kathy loves working with entrepreneurs, whom she finds extremely creative and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure a visually interesting shot. In her off-hours, Kathy works to save open space from development in New Jersey, where she lives with her husband, daughter, and menagerie.

When photographer Matthew Gilson, who shot our cover, heard that Xavier Helgesen of Better World Books had a giant chair constructed entirely of books, he knew great pictures would follow. "Almost as much fun as the shoot itself was the opportunity to wander through the massive warehouse of books, randomly picking out titles on topics from calculus to postmodernism to barbecue," he says. In addition to BusinessWeek, Matthew's photos have appeared in Time, Men's Vogue, Runner's World, Bon Appétit, and National Geographic Kids.

Stephen Webster, who created the image in "Let Us Serve You," is a photographer and photo-illustrator who has been developing concept-driven imagery since he opened his studio, the Worldwide Hideout, in 1991. Influenced by his studies in graphic design and photography, Stephen develops images used by more than 200 advertising, corporate, and editorial clients internationally. He works from his studio in a former church in Columbus, Ohio.
