I came across this excellent CNet article on how great newspaper headlines, such as Ford to City: Drop Dead, are poorly engineered for Google searches. The idea is that headline writers, who at their best communicate with readers through poetry and shared alusions, will have to put all sorts of boring contextual language into their headlines for people to find them online.
