IBM: suitable avatar dress and behavior
I was reading about IBM’s protocol for virtual worlds (ex Shel Holtz), and I got a special kick out of this one:
“(Be) especially sensitive to the appropriateness of your avatar or persona’s appearance when you are meeting with IBM clients or conducting IBM business.”
Just imagine, you’re hanging out on Second Life, and you see an avatar from Dell or SAP walking your way. You’re about to greet it—but your avatar’s pants are scandalously sagged! What do you do? Run away looking for a belt? That might be interpreted as rude… No, I think IBMers on Second Life would be well advised to wear suits. Blue might be the right color. And maybe a red tie.
