Movers: Yahoo, Intel, Bear Stearns, Pfizer
Intel (INTC) posts second quarter earnings per share of $0.22, vs. $0.15 a year ago, on an 8.4% revenue rise. The chip maker sees third quarter sales of $9-$9.6 billion, 52% (plus or minus couple of points) gross margin. S&P ups EPS estimate, target; keeps buy.
Yahoo! (YHOO) posts $0.11, vs. $0.11 a year ago, second quarter GAAP EPS despite an 11% revenue rise (excluding traffic acquisition costs). It sees $4.89-$5.19 billion 2007 rev (excluding TAC). S&P keeps hold and cuts 2007 EPS view, while Bear Stearns keeps outperform opinion on the stock.
Bear Stearns (BSC) are indicated to open lower on CNBC report that said company told investors in its two trouble collateralized debt obligation funds that funds are now essentially worthless.
Pfizer (PFE) posts second quarter adjusted EPS of $0.42, vs. $0.50 a year ago and below analysts' forecast for $0.50, on a 5.6% revenue drop. The drug maker reaffirms 2007 guidance for revenues of $47-$48 billion, $2.08-$2.15 adjusted EPS. It sees $46.5-$48.5 billion 2008 revenues, $2.31-$2.45 adjusted EPS.
Whole Foods Market (WFMI) says it was informed by SEC staff late Monday that it is conducting inquiry in relation to online financial message board postings regarding Whole Foods and Wild Oats Markets (OATS).
Humana (HUM) posts second quarter EPS of $1.28, vs. $0.53 a year ago. Due to better-than-expected operating performance in both business segments, it raises 2007 EPS estimate to $4.40-$4.50. It will issue detailed second quarter release on July 30.
Warner Music Group (WMG) confirms that it has decided not to make an offer for EMI Group Plc.
I2 Technologies (ITWO) sees $64M-$65M prelim. Q2 revenues, $0.02 GAAP EPS... Sees significantly lower platform technology bookings, slower-than-expected growth in supply chain mgmt bookings in '07... No longer expects to achieve '07 guidance.
Piper Jaffray (PJC) posts $0.58, vs. $0.40 a year ago, second quarter EPS from continuing operations on a 17% revenue rise. It says revenue and profitabilty were below strong first quarter results on weak advisory services revenue.
Altria Group (MO) posts $1.15, vs. $1.05 a year ago, second quarter EPS from continuing operations (adjusted) on 9.7% net revenue rise. It revises 2007 EPS forecast from continuing operations to $4.05-$4.10 to reflect $0.15 in additional charges for asset impairment, exit costs.
JP Morgan Chase (JPM) posts $1.20, vs. $0.99 a year ago, second quarter EPS on a 25% revenue rise. S&P reiterates buy.
Blackrock (BLK) posts $1.69, vs. $0.95 a year ago, second quarter EPS on a 9.1% revenue rise. It says large growth in per share returns reflects benefits derived from combination with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.
Women's Wear Daily reports Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts is considering a bid for Macy's (M). Sources says Kohlberg was partnering with Goldman on offer valued at $52 per share.
United Technologies (UTX) posts $1.16, vs. $1.09 a year ago, second quarter EPS on 13% revenue rise. It raises $51 billion 2007 revenue guidance to $53 billion, and $4.05-$4.20 EPS to $4.15-4.25.
Abbott Laboratories (ABT) posts $0.69, vs. $0.62 a year ago, second quarter EPS (excluding items) on 16% sales rise. It confirms guidance for third quarter EPS of $0.64-$0.66, excluding items. The company narrows 2007 EPS forecast range to $2.80-$2.84, excluding items.
