Plummeting Unemployment in Germany

The German economy continues to rebound as the unemployment rate falls to 8.8% and the number of jobless drops to a 6½-year low

Germany has been enjoying an economic rebound for some months now, but the news just keeps getting better and better. On Thursday, the government announced its lowest unemployment figures in six and a half years, with the number of unemployed dropping to 3.687 million in June, more than 700,000 fewer than the same period last year and considerably lower than expected. This represents a total drop in the unemployment rate from 9.1 percent to 8.8 percent.
