The Exorbitant Price of Paid Leave
We only have four employees and can barely pay them a decent wage. We are able to retain employees only because we offer a flexible schedule and we take a genuine interest in our workers' families.
Taxes are outrageous already. They discourage employers from hiring in the U.S. Making employers pay employees who are on family or medical leave ("A Plumper Payroll," April/May 2007) just gives companies another reason to move or build overseas.
