Stocks End Higher in Sluggish Trading

Bond yields fell, while stocks mustered tepid responses to oil price moves, further weakness in the housing sector and softer retail earnings

Stocks ended moderately higher Tuesday, but remained in a narrow trading range, while bond yields fell. Equities registered only muted responses to downward and upward moves in oil prices and to negative housing starts data, although retailers were hit after a poor showing in Best Buy's latest financial results.
