Energy Prices Mixed, Gold Lower

S&P MARKETSCOPE : June WTI crude, which skidded $2.05 yesterday after Nigerian oil workers ended a 2-day strike, rose 34 cents Wednesday to $63.49... Nigerian President Umaru Yar-Adua asked for a break in militant attacks in the Niger Delta, pledging to give this matter urgent attention and use "every resource available to resolve this crisis"... July heating oil futures, which dropped 7.01 cents yesterday, rose 0.65 cent to 187.55 cents... June reformulated gasoline futures, which plunged 10.58 cents yesterday on news several distressed refineries had reopened, fell another 2.54 cents to 227.25 cents... some positioning before tomorrow's Dept. of Energy report that likely to show small increase... July Brent crude oil futures fell 41 cents to $67.72 in London.

Precious metals: June gold futures fell $4.10 to $653.10, spot gold off $4.17 to $652.68 as the dollar index rose bit... some profit taking after yesterday's gains... economic data tomorrow and Friday likely to indicate Fed won't be in rush to lower rates... dollar's reaction to minutes of FOMC May 9 meeting this afternoon could impact market tomorrow... July silver futures lost 30 cents to $13.22, spot silver off 1 cent to $13.18... July platinum futures fell 80 cents to $1,264.00, spot platinum rose $3.50 to $1,261.50 on bargain hunting from yesterday's slide... June palladium futures shed 90 cents to $366.05, spot palladium up 50 cents to $367.00.
