Shares of the software outfit slid nearly 10% Friday as investors fretted about sales growth

BEA Systems (BEAS) has been growing its sales of service-oriented architecture (SOA) software, which enables customers to link different types of computer hardware and software together. But the competition is sharp and visibility into BEA's performance is murky. Investors sold the stock on Feb. 23 as they worried about BEA's sales in the coming months.
