NYTimes (Almost) Finds Its Inner Niche with CGM Wedding VideosHeather Green
Planning for a wedding makes me understand 1/why it makes people batty and 2/why the wedding racket racks in around $36 billion each year. Who knew that letter press printing was the ne plus ultra for wedding invitations??
In light of this hard-won, but little-wanted understanding, it struck me as incredibly sensible for the NYTimes, with its coveted wedding listings and its popular Modern Love column and podcast, to make "How We Met" videos its first foray into asking folks to contribute videos to its site.
But just when I think they have discovered their inner niche, they blow it by deciding that only the videos of couples who make it into the Weddings/Celebrations print page will be posted online.
