A CEO for Fuqua's Brand

Seeking differentiation, Duke taps the head of its for-profit corporate-education unit to lead its business school

Duke University's Fuqua School of Business announced a new dean on Jan. 10. Blair Sheppard, chief executive officer and president of Duke Corporate Education, a for-profit entity born from the Fuqua School in 2000, will use his business-running skills and academic background as the B-school's new head. It's Sheppard's connections, his experience both academically and in business, and his interest in showcasing Fuqua's research efforts that gave him a leg up in the running, says Christine Moorman, head of the search committee and marketing professor.
