Smithfield's Problem: A Plethora of Pork

Shares fell Thursday as the company posted weaker earnings, due in part to lower prices for "the other white meat"

Sometimes you can have too much protein. Smithfield Foods, Inc. (SFD) on Nov. 30 posted weaker earnings, as prices on its pork products fall amid continuing problems such as a glut of supplies in the industry.
