Washington's Campaign for National Mall

The National Park Service launches a 50-year plan to overhaul the National Mall in Washington. Raising money and ideas are the first steps

America’s front lawn needs a lift. Responding to a mandate by the U.S. Congress, on November 1 the National Park Service launched a planning and fundraising campaign to develop a 50-year plan to manage and revitalize the aging National Mall for its 25 million annual visitors. The NPS is asking the park’s users for design input; it is also working with the nonprofit group, Trust for the National Mall, to help fund the endeavor.
