Small companies have a distinct advantage over their larger counterparts and that is the ability to be flexible when it comes to employee policies. Large companies often rigidly adhere to the policies outlined in the employee handbook. Workers who want to make special arrangements, whether it’s working from home one day a week or taking every other Friday off in the summer, often have to jump through several bureaucratic hoops and many times the request is still denied.
