Treasury Prices Rise After Fed News

MARKETSCOPE : Treasury bond prices rose Wednesday after the Fed Beige Book noted signs of slowing economic growth.

The 10-year Treasury note rose 08/32 to 100-24/32 for a yield of 5.03%. The 30-year Treasury bond climbed 14/32 to 90-00/32 for a yield of 5.09%.

Equities were modestly higher as the bond market closed.

Investors continued debating about whether the Federal Open Market Committee will stop raising rates at its Aug. 8 meeting, or hike them another 25 basis points to 5.50% amid inflation fears.
