Treasury Prices Fall As Investors Take Profits

From Standard & Poor's Equity Research

MARKETSCOPE : Treasury bond prices fell on Friday as investors took profits ahead of the weekend.

The 10-year note fell 05/32 to 100-20/32 for a yield of 5.04%. The 30-year bond slid 09/32 to 90-29/32 for a yield of 5.01%. Stocks were down sharply as the bond market closed.

Investors had bought earlier this week amid a flight to safety. Israel and Hezbollah fought in Lebanon and the stock market faltered. Price weakness also reflects some liquidation ahead of auctions of new issues next week, which will add to supply.
