Burton's Odd Snowboarding Jacket

The Audex lets you listen to an iPod and talk on the phone as you ski down the slopes. But it has to be handled with a little too much care

Just about everyone has had experiences with high-tech devices that overpromise and underdeliver. That was certainly the case for me with the Audex snowboarding jacket, developed by Motorola (MOT) and Burton, which lets wearers use an iPod and a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone without taking either gadget out of a pocket.

However appealing, these features weren't enough to sell me on the whole Audex experience. This is one piece of clothing I won't be wearing down the mountain, whatever hemisphere I pick for my next ski adventure.
