Mobile 'Gloom is Misplaced'

Mike Yuen, gaming group director at Qualcomm, says current gloom about mobile gaming is misplaced and predicts that the platform could outstrip traditional gaming consoles

Yuen says the biggest challenges for game publishers and developers include fragmentation of platform, porting costs, content discovery and merchandising, as well as accurate sell-through data and general consumer awareness. He adds, "I believe the industry has openly acknowledged these challenges and a concerted effort is underway to address and overcome these issues."

He is optimistic about the future of mobile games based on emerging technologies and his belief that future mobile phones will increasingly be designed with the gamer in mind.
