International Automakers' Strong May

Even as U.S. car makers saw declines, sales of European and Asian nameplates climbed 10.4% from last year

Despite total U.S. auto sales experiencing a slight decline in May from last year, international nameplates enjoyed a banner May. Sales for international nameplate brands climbed 10.4 percent from last year, and market share for the group jumped nearly 5 percent from last year, hitting 47.1%. So far in 2006, total market share stands at 45.4%, compared to 44.9% at the end of April.
