Blair Ups Catalina Marketing to Market Perform

Analyst Troy Mastin notes that the company's business has experienced positive trends

William Blair upgraded Catalina Marketing (POS) to market perform from underperform, noting that the company's business has experienced positive trends.

Analyst Troy Mastin doesn't see a significant uptick in the company's business on the horizon, but he believes that a reasonably healthy quarter is likely due to easy comps, strong trends in Catalina Health Resource, and meaningful client winback. He says these developments may help alleviate recent pressure on shares that intensified in January when the company reported weak third quarter results. He also thinks recent stock awards may be positive signal regarding quarterly results. He sees $1.32 earnings per share in fiscal year 2007 (Mar).
