UBS Ups PMC-Sierra to Buy

Analyst Alex Guana cites revisions to telecom carrier capital expansion estimates

UBS Financial upgraded PMC-Sierra (PMCS) to buy from neutral, citing revisions to telecom carrier capital expansion estimates.

Analyst Alex Guana raises his 38 cents 2006 earnings per share (EPS) estimate to 40 cents, his 53 cents 2007 EPS estimate to 60 cents, and his $11 stock price target to $15. His checks suggest conditions are "ripe" for PMC-Sierra to finally begin harvesting 40%+ of revenue it's been plowing into Research & Development in the past several years. As the company's top line re-accelerates, both from acquired technology and ramping product cycles, Guana thinks PMC-Sierra will again see its multiple expand to levels more in line with other networking leaders like Broadcom (BRCM) and Marvell Technology Group (MRVL).
