McAfee Gains on Higher Profit

Visteon realizes $1.83 billion gain; Oracle to slash about 2,000 jobs; plus more stocks in the news on Friday

Shares of McAfee (MFE) rose Friday after the company posted 27 cents vs. 22 cents fourth quarter EPS (non-GAAP) on a 3.7% revenue rise. It sees 28 cents to 32 cents non-GAAP first quarter EPS on $250 million to $280 million revenue and $1.25 to $1.35 2006 EPS on $1.05 billion to $1.15 billion revenue.

On a conference call, Oracle 's (ORCL) management forecasts third quarter EPS (pro forma) of 18 cents to 19 cents and fourth quarter EPS of 26 cents to 28 cents. The technology company also says it expects to cut about 2,000 jobs.

Visteon (VC) The automotive systems supplier posts $10.25 fourth quarter earnings per share (EPS) vs. $1.10 loss as a $1.83 billion gain on the sale of certain facilities to Ford Motor (F) helps to offset a 39% sales drop. It sees 2006 product sales of about $11.2 billion, $45 million to $75 million Earnings Before Interest Taxes, and $50 million in free cash flow.

Pfizer (PFE) reportedly sees lower-than-expected 2006 EPS of $1.52 to $1.56 on revenue comparable to 2005.

Allied Waste Industries (AW) posts 15 cents vs. 4 cents fourth quarter EPS on 6.7% internal revenue growth and 5.9% total revenue growth. It sees 4% to 5% 2006 revenue growth and operating income of $900 million to $975 million.

Analog Devices (ADI) posts 32 cents vs. 28 cents first quarter EPS (GAAP) on a 7% sales rise. It sees 34 cents to 36 cents second quarter GAAP EPS on $635 million to $650 million.

Aon (AOC) posts 42 cents vs. 22 cents fourth quarter EPS from continuing operations as lower expenses offset a 3% revenue decline.

MetLife (MET) posts $1.04 vs. 88 cents fourth quarter operating EPS on a 13% rise in earned total premiums, fees, and other revenue.

Arch Coal (ACI) posts 25 cents vs. 32 cents fourth quarter EPS as higher costs offset a 12% revenue rise. It sees $3.50 to $4.25 2006 EPS and $550 million to $610 million adjusted earnings before interest taxes depreciation and amortization, or EBITDA.

UTStarcom (UTSI) posts preliminary fourth quarter loss of 17 cents (GAAP) on sales of $685.5 million. It says its Audit Committee has initiated investigation surrounding the circumstances of a specific contract in India signed in 2002.

Novastar Financial (NFI) postpones the release of its fourth quarter results as it seeks legal opinions on some of its tax positions. It expects to receive this additional legal counsel in the next 2 to 4 weeks, after which it plans to release results.

Tribune (TRB) posts 1.1% lower January consolidated revenue, 1.0% lower publishing revenue, and 0.2% higher advertising revenue.
