The recent surge in inflation has peaked. Gasoline prices have fallen, now down to a national average of $2.38 per gallon, after popping above $3 per gallon in September. \Crude oil is now hovering around $58 per barrel and even natural gas has slid back to under $10 per million btu, from $14 in late October. As a result, headline tallies of consumer and producer prices will level off.
