Verity Agrees to Buyout
Verity (VRTY ) agreed to be acquired by Autonomy in a $500 million deal, at $13.50 cash per Verity share.

Sanmina-SCI (SANM ) posted 3 cents vs. 1 cent fourth quarter earnings per share (GAAP) despite a 16% sales decline. It sees 6 cents to 8 cents first quarter non-GAAP earnings per share on revenue of $2.8 billion to $2.9 billion.
Expedia (EXPE ) posted 23 cents vs. 17 cents third quarter earnings per share on 16% higher revenue. It says third quarter gross bookings rose 21% and posted 35 cents third quarter earnings per share (adjusted).
Starbucks (SBUX ) posted 7% higher company-operated same-store sales for October and 21% higher total sales.
Honeywell International (HON ) set a $3 billion stock buyback.
Computer Sciences (CSC ) posted 71 cents vs. 56 cents second quarter earnings per share from continuing operations on a 5.3% revenue rise.
Powerwave Technologies (PWAV ) posted 11 cents vs. 3 cents third quarter earnings per share on a 58% sales rise.
Polo Ralph Lauren (RL ) posted 97 cents vs. 77 cents second quarter earnings per share on a 16% sales rise. It sees $2.85 to $2.92 fiscal year 2006 earnings per share on low double-digit revenue growth.
Wyeth (WYE ) won four cases in L.A. Superior Court over an alleged heart-valve injury from the use of Pondimin, a diet drug the company once marketed.
Warnaco Group (WRNC ) posted 15 cents vs. 3 cents third quarter earnings per share on a slight revenue rise.
Pope & Talbot (POP ) posted a 54 cents third quarter loss vs. 48 cents earnings per share as market price decreases for its pulp and lumber business, as well as increases in its cost of goods sold offset a 6.8% revenue rise. It says it suspended its quarterly dividend on 11/03.
99¢ Only Stores (NDN ) posted 5 cents first quarter earnings per share and five cents second quarter earnings per share, noting that the results are preliminary and remain subject to review. It hired BDO Seidman, LLP as its independent accounting firm to audit its financial statements for the current fiscal year.
Stillwater Mining (SWC ) posted 10 cents third quarter loss vs. a penny of loss on 18% lower revenue.
Alkermes (ALKS ) posted 13 cents second quarter earnings per share vs. 16 cents of loss (pro forma) on a sharp revenue rise. It narrowed its fiscal year 2006 loss estimate to between 14 cents and 25 cents from 27 cents to 38 cents of loss on better-than-expected revenue of $150 million to $170 million.
Wild Oats Markets (OATS ) posted breakeven second quarter vs. 25 cents loss on a 6.1% same-store sales rise and 11% higher total sales.
FARO Technologies (FARO ) posted 18 cents vs. 22 cents third quarter earnings per share despite 39% higher sales. It sees 19 cents to 27 cents fourth quarter earnings per share on revenue of between $33 million and $35 million. It sees 75 cents to 83 cents 2005 earnings per share on revenue of $124 million to $126 million, with 2006 revenue rising 25% to 30% amid improved profitability.
Molina Healthcare (MOH ) poste 24 cents vs. 59 cents third quarter earnings per share amid a 30% revenue rise. It also sees 75 cents to 82 cents 2005 earnings per share, better than expected.
Empire Resorts (NYNY ) confirmed receipt of a letter from St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Council stating that the Tribe has formally decided to pursue a casino project solely with Empire Resorts at Monticello Raceway.
Biovail (BVF ) said its unit inked a supply deal with Johnson & Johnson (JNJ )'s Ortho-McNeil for the marketing and distribution of tramadol hydrochloride in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. It got a $60 million supply prepayment.
Audible (ADBL ) posted a penny third quarter loss vs. two cents earnings per share as higher operating costs offset an 81% revenue rise. It reaffirmed its 2005 revenue guidance of $62 million to $65 million, which represents 80% to 89% year over year revenue growth.
Sina (SINA ) posted 17 cents vs. 30 cents third quarter earnings per share (non-GAAP) on a 5% revenue decline. It sees $14 million to $15 million fourth quarter net income (non-GAAP) on $51 million to $53 million revenue.
Red Robin Gourmet (RRGB ) posted 39 cents vs. 43 cents third quarter earnings per share as charges offset 2.1% higher company-owned same-store sales and 16% higher total revenue. It sees 40 cents to 41 cents fourth quarter earnings per share on total revenue of about $118 million to $119.5 million.
Boyd Gaming (BYD ) posted 57 cents vs. 38 cents third quarter earnings per share (adjusted) on a 2.7% revenue rise.
Emdeon (HLTH ) posted 4 cents vs. 2 cents third quarter earnings per share on a 7.9% revenue rise. It says results are at the low end of its guidance and raises its stock buyback authorization to $200 million.
Aeroflex (ARXX ) posted 11 cents vs. 10 cents first quarter earnings per share (pro forma) on a 15% sales rise.
