Where the Computer Revolution Hasn't Even Started
Bran Ferren of Applied Minds is ranting (justifiably) about the suckiness of computer interfaces. He contends that we've been in the "dark ages" of awkward keyboard-video display-mouse interfaces for too many decades. "Where we're really waiting for a breakthrough is in the human interface. This is going to be the new frontier."
At the Web 2.0 conference, he's showing some slides of the "wideband" interfaces, such as spherical display systems for exploring the Earth and touch tables where you navigate using your hands, that Applied Minds is working on. I can't wait, but I'm afraid I'll have to.
