Publishers and Podcasting

Using podcasts for to publicize books--and much more?

USA Today has an interesting story about how book publishers are turning to podcasts of book excerpts as publicity tools. I love the idea and where this can lead...instead of literary journals or in addition to what literary journals publish, you could have "magazines" of short stories, or short non-fiction that is read to you instead of you reading it.

Don't get me wrong. I would never want to replace the reading experience. I just like the idea of it expanding in new ways. WOuld love to hear NPR's Selected Shorts as podcasts.
