Treasuries End Higher

A jump in oil kept a bid under the market

From S&P MarketScope: Long-dated Treasuries finished up slightly. The 10-year note edged up 02/32 to 100-21/32 for a yield of 4.17%. The 30-year bond firmed 03/32 to 114-00/32 for a yield of 4.39%.

A 4.9% drop in July durable goods orders drove prices higher at the open, but July new home sales jumped 6.5% to a record high, bringing bonds quickly off their early highs.

July WTI crude oil rallied north of $67 on concerns a tropical depression in the Bahamas may become a hurricane and disrupt supply. This kept a safety bid under the market. The 10-year yield found technical support at the 4.15% level.
