Back to the Oughts

Meet the public domain. A free jukebox of pre 1926 popular songs from Turtle Services Limited.

Here's a little sweet relief from the battle among digital music services that are trying to trounce each other in dishing up copyrighted music.

Check out the Turtles "78 RPM" Jukebox. You'll find free digital, restored versions of what were apparently popular songs published by Edison, Columbia and Victor before 1926.

Why the magic 1926 cut off date? Because after that date, the copyrighted works aren't in the public domain....

Bonus: Turtle Services Limited explains how they transferred the records into digital format and "restored" them.

Before it's here, it's on the Bloomberg Terminal.
