Internet Radio: Here We Go Again

A program called Replay Music from Applian Technologies threatens to bring out the recording industry's legal firepower again. I can understand why the industry isn't happy about a program that's clearly advertised as being able to essentially record songs for free. The site makes it very clear how you can record streaming music, even from subscription sites like Rhapsody and Music Match, and then slice the stream in MP3 files that are even labeled by artist and song. Only at the bottom of the home page does the company say that people should buy the songs legally. C'mon. Sure, the music industry has taken some idiotic stances with regard to potential new business models, and programs such as this seem inevitable. But a little cooperation on both sides would go a long way toward providing a better product for consumers without ripping off artists.
