Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers--the VC firm that funded Google, Sun Microsystems, Genentech, and many others--has added four staff members in the past five months. Today, the firm said it has hired former Guidant executive Dana G. Mead, Jr. as partner. Mead is the second life sciences pro KPCB has added this month. Earlier in May, the firm hired Beth Seidenberg, a former Amgen exec, as "executive in residence."
