Treasuries Higher

Bonds were higher on Thursday after mixed economic data and higher oil prices

Treasuries saw a one-way trade for most of the session, with long end buying at pre-open and the beginning of the session on Thursday. The uptick in weekly jobless claims was neutralized by solid December retail sales, inspiring continued bids for the long end. Higher oil prices also helped bond prices rise. A mediocre 10-year TIPS auction hampered gains momentarily. A bomb threat in Jakarta and unfounded rumors of a U.S. terror alert being raised caused more buying.
