Bonds Close Slightly Lower
Treasuries finished mixed to slightly lower in Wedenesday's holiday-shortened session following reports that showed housing remains strong due to still-low mortgage rates, consumer sentiment is down a bit, durable goods are down a bit, and fewer people are seeking jobless aid. There was some position squaring before the 2 pm E.S.T. early close for Thanksgiving. The market sees the Fed hiking rates at its Dec. 14 meeting, and in months thereafter as economy improves. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note closed at 4.19%.
