Stocks Finish Higher

Another rise in oil prices hampered equity gains in late trading amid a better-than-expected retail sales report

U.S. stocks finished higher Friday, though they retreated from the best levels of the session as oil prices pushed even higher. Investors took a robust retail sales number as a sign that the U.S. economy continues to recover, and shrugged off another report showing an unexpected drop in consumer sentiment.
