Treasuries End Lower on Iraq Peace Plans

News that Iraq's Al-Sadr agreed to end the Najaf crises reversed some oil gains

Treasuries, after a strong start, finished slightly lower when stocks rallied following a report Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr accepted a peace plan drafted by the Iraqi National Conference. He will lay down arms and withdraw militia from a holy shrine in Najaf. News and inventory reports took some of steam out of the energy futures rally, but crude oil finished at a 21-year closing high.
