Amazon.com Sinks after Missing Street Estimates

Coca-Cola plunges; DoubleClick drops; plus more of Friday's stocks in the news

Amazon.com (AMZN ) posted 18 cents second-quarter EPS, vs. an 11-cent loss on a 26% sales rise. Analysts had been expected 19 cents EPS, on average. The world's largest Internet retailer sees $1.425 billion to $1.525 billion in third-quarter net sales, $50 million to $70 million in operating income, and $400 million to $460 million in 2004 operating income. Goldman trimmed its estimates, but keeps the in-line rating, citing valuation. S&P reiterates its hold rating.
