Europe Stocks Finish Lower

Asia shares end mixed; Canada stocks finish with gains

European stock markets finished lower. London's FTSE 100 index was off 53.3 points, or 1.17%, to 4,516.2 as Brent crude oil futures surged above $37, and gasoline prices were continuing to rise, spawning fears the economy might be slowed. The Bank of England raised its key lending rate by 25 basis points to 4.25%, saying inflation forces are likely to rise.
