Europe Stocks Finish Mixed

Asia stocks finish lower; Canada markets make steady gains

European stock markets finished mixed on Tuesday. London's Financial Times-Stock Exchange 100 index closed down 29.5 points, or 0.67%, to 4,404.90, on profit taking. The market showed little reaction to a report that the U.K.'s December global trade gap narrowed, while a surplus with the U.S. rose to record levels. BP was lower despite reporting higher earnings, as some investors were disappointed with the energy giant's results.
