Thomas Weisel Upgrades Oracle to 'Outperform'

Analyst Tim Klassell says recent stock price underperformance is unjustified, due to improving business momentum for the database software maker

Thomas Weisel upgraded Oracle (ORCL ) to outperform from peer perform.

Analyst Tim Klasell says since the fourth-quarter earnings per share announcement, shares have underperformed both their infrastructure software peers, and the NASDAQ 100.

Klassell says following recent checks, he believes this underperformance is unjustified due to indication that business momentum has improved in key verticals; Linux momentum is building a pipeline nicely for the remainder of the year; and Oracle's real application clusters (RAC) technology and 10G product strategy points to sustainable business acceleration in fiscal 2005 (May).
