Canada Shares Plunge at Close

Europe markets end lower; Asia markets end higher

Canada's benchmark S&P/TSX fell 205.59 points, or 3.23%, to 6,161.08, Tuesday amid declines in gold and telecommunication stocks. Also, Statistics Canada said that the Consumer Price Index rose 1.3% in June from June 2001 after a 1% rise in May.
