Metro One CEO Tim Timmins believes his outfit has the legs to stay ahead of the pack in the wireless directory-assistance business

Beaverton (Ore.)-based Metro One Telecommunications is basking in sunshine amid the Oregon rains. The wireless-phone directory-assistance business -- which the company leads with a 30% market share -- is expected to grow to $4.6 billion in 2006, vs. $1.6 billion this year, according to tech consultancy the Kelsey Group. This year alone, Metro One could increase revenues by as much as 59%, to $235 million, the company says (see BW Online, 11/30/01, "Metro One: Is the Future Calling?").
