Burlington Resources To Acquire Hunter Exploration

Clear Channel Communications buys Ackerley Group, and other merger news

Natural gas company Burlington Resources (BR ) says it will acquire Canada's Hunter Exploration Ltd. (HTR ) for $2.1 billion, or C$53 cash per share. (10/9)

Radio broadcaster Clear Channel Communications (CCU ) says it will acquire outdoor media and broadcasting company Ackerley Group (AK ) in a stock deal worth about $495 million. Terms: 0.35 CCU share per AK share. (10/8)

Northrop Grumman (NOC ) and Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS ) will begin merger discussions this week that would currently value NNS at $72.67/share. This bid would exceed General Dynamics' (GD ) bid for $2.1 billion in cash or $67.50 per share. (10/8)
