Tech Shares Drag Down Canada Markets

Europe stocks fall as Britian reports higher inflation; Asia stocks end in the red

Canada's benchmark TSE 300 index tumbled, led by technology stocks, as investors braced for more dismal corporate earnings. The TSE lost 27.70 points, or 0.4 percent, to 7,616. Of the 14 subindices, six were down, led by technology stocks and metals and minerals shares. The industrial products index also declined. Tech bellwether Nortel made new 52-week lows ahead of its earnings results on July 19. Decliners lead advancers 149-115.
