Precious Metals Lead Canada Lower

Europe markets higher in quiet trade; Asia markets hit by tech losses

Canada's benchmark TSE 300 traded in a choppy manner Thursday and ended with a minor loss down 1.8 points to 8346.8. The hefty drop in gold and little help from the choppy U.S. indices offset bullish technicals. For Friday, S&P says to watch the low from Thursday, 8287, and this week's high of 8409. Technical bias is bullish and it is the Friday before a U.S. long weekend, which is usually a strong day, but there's important U.S. data due Friday that could upset these fragile markets. Plus Greenspan is speaking Thursday night and this also may impact the markets.
