Sizing Up Women-Owned Businesses

The Census Bureau finds there are more than ever and they're growing faster than business overall

The number of privately held companies owned by women grew 16% from 1992 to 1997, nearly three times the 6% rate for all companies, according to the latest Census Bureau information. Revenue at women-owned businesses also increased faster than average, 33% compared with 24% for companies overall.
