Aloha, Small Business

Plans for new hotel space on Maui are aimed directly at traveling entrepreneurs

Small-business owners are used to receiving pitches -- for everything from free money to inexpensive virtual assistants -- but this one might catch your eye. A&B Properties Inc. and Marriott International have teamed up to build what they're marketing as a moderately priced hotel for small-business travelers in central Maui.

The hotel, which they hope to put close to the Kahului Airport near the Hawaiian island's major business, government, and population center, is aimed at business visitors and would support the large number of small businesses in central Maui, says A&B Properties' Maui vice-president Mercer "Chubby" Vicens.

"Over the last several years, Maui County has seen an increasing need for accommodations in the Central Maui Area," says Maui Mayor James "Kimo" Apana. "The new project will assist the growing number of businesspeople who come to Maui. I'm sure that its location will be a great advantage for people who work late, then plan to catch the first flight out in the morning."

But what about those small-business owners who want to head out to the surf before their flights?
