Time For Germany To Look Outward
Germany has been more reflective than celebratory on the 10th anniversary of reunification. That's not surprising. The task of rejoining capitalist West and communist East has been an enormous strain. As the world economy grew more international, Germany spent much of the decade focused on this overwhelming domestic challenge. Only recently did government begin undertaking serious reforms to address global competition. Now is a good time for Germany to decisively shift its focus outward.
