Legal Voyeurism On The Net
You may love the small-company life, but you can still learn from how the biggies do business. That's why the "Tech Deals" section at legal portal FindLaw.com makes for fascinating--and educational--reading. FindLaw collects and posts public contracts, letters of employment, and development alliances issued from the likes of Microsoft and America Online. Examples: Compaq demands that its Net partner AskJeeves respond to its queries within four hours. Excite@Home is barred by its deal with Netscape Communications from creating features that favor the rival Microsoft browser. Legal voyeurism? Sure. But for small companies still learning the Net, it's a peek worth taking.
