Figures Of The Week

COMMENTARY
A sharp increase in the September producer price index and remarks by Federal
Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan that the market was risky sent the Dow Jones
industrial average reeling toward 10,000 on Oct. 15. But stocks recovered
smartly, jumping 187 points on Oct. 20 alone, as earnings reports from such
giants as Microsoft and Chase beat forecasts.
